Getting to Know Your God

 Inspirational Monday

Welcome to another Inspirational Monday.  On this journey, we are going to do a little bit of homework.  Don’t worry; we won’t make you write a thesis or anything, but you will have to do some research.  God is one and presents Himself to us as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Your job this week is to take some time to learn about each of their characteristics.

Scripture to Memorize ~

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
~ Matthew 28:19 NLT

~ Challenge to Accept ~

Each person of the Holy Trinity has a specific and special purpose in our lives. So special, it’s worth learning about them in great detail.  Using the following as a guide, have fun getting to know your God.

  1. Grab three sheets of paper. At the top, label them: “The Father,” “The Son,” and “The Holy Spirit.”
  2. Thoroughly research each until you have a good understanding of who they are and how they show up in your life. Choose from any or all of these suggestions below.
    1. Bible – Your ultimate source
    2. Prayer – Talk to the Trinity and ask each person to reveal Himself to you
    3. Internet/articles – There is a plethora of free information out there
    4. Interview friends/family – They may know a thing or two
    5. Bible Plans – Be specific in your search
    6. Inspirational Literature – Can’t forget these
  3. Once you’ve learned as much as you can, write your findings on their respective papers. You can use this when you want to be especially detailed during your prayer time or for the next challenge when we make this list personal.

OK, fine. Maybe by the time you are finished, you would have written a thesis.  Definitely not our intent, but I don’t blame you.  There is so much to learn and say about our God.

~ Prayer to Pray ~

Heavenly Father.  Thank You for the opportunity to get to know You better. We realize we can go our entire lives and only scratch the surface of experiencing Your ultimate power, but we are eternally grateful for all that You are willing to teach us while here on Earth.  Lord, show us the path that will lead us into the knowledge of the Holy Trinity.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Class Dismissed!  Make it a great week!
