Would you believe me if I told you that healing starts with a single piece of paper? Let me explain why I say this.
Most people go through life only knowing on the surface why they feel sad, mad or angry. They know the person who caused the emotion or the situation that changed their mood but haven’t peeled back the layers to identify the root cause.
Identifying the root of your feelings helps you to deal with the source. We sometimes identify the source as what we see in the moment of despair. In some cases, this could be true but more times than none, it runs deeper than that.
A piece of paper (or several 😜) can be your best friend. This phenomenon of journaling can help you in the following ways:
- Listens intently and without judgment.
- Allows you to pour all your thoughts out on a given emotion/situation for you to analyze.
- Provides immediate relief by letting you vent.
- Helps you see things clearer.
- And most importantly, identifies the root so the healing can begin.
Try testing this out this week. Grab your favorite journal and pen; find a cozy spot in your home and start your journaling experience.
Meditate for a few minutes to clear your mind and then begin writing. It can be about an issue you’d like to be healed from or nothing in particular.
Let your mind guide you to where it wants to go. Remember, journaling allows for free expression, so don’t limit yourself and don’t judge your thoughts.
Happy Journaling! 📝
