Love Languages and God

Focus Area: Reconnecting with God

Did you know that you could apply the Five Love Languages to connect with God?

It's true!

One, there is a book about it, and two, it just makes sense.  If we can lovingly connect with others using words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, physical touch, and gifts, surely we could do the same with God!

Ideas for You

While we recommend you read the book, below are some ideas to help with spiritual connection using love languages.

Words of Affirmation:

If words are your thing, you have several options: the Bible, devotionals, writing God a love letter or poem. Anything that communicates God loves you or that you love God.

Acts of Service:

One of the missions of Jesus Christ while on this Earth was to perform acts of service. Doing this for others is a sure way to feel connected to Him. Try a random act of kindness, volunteering at a homeless shelter, or helping out an elderly neighbor.

Quality Time:

Really, any time spent with God is quality time. But for this, try something different. Suggestions:  Go for a walk and listen to nature; Create a "prayer closet" and spend time there; Listen to a sermon during your commute.

Physical Touch:

This is all about feeling God's presence, so really, do anything that moves you. For many it's:  listening to worship music, deep meditation, or collective worship.

This is probably a favorite.  With gifts such as hope, peace, joy, mercy, grace, salvation, forgiveness, and many more, it's easy to fall in love!  Consider what each gift means to you and how it applies to your life today.  Thank Jesus for these wonderful, precious gifts.
